A Little Time at the Lakefront Park in Whiting Indiana

I needed to head to Whiting to drop off one of my pieces of photography for the upcoming Oliver Brown artist show at CornerStone Art Center. So I took Bubba along for the ride and we stopped by the Lakefront Park. It's a beautiful park next to the beach right on Lake Michigan. It's usually very crowded in the summer months, so I like to go off season. I decided to take a few photos, walk Bubba, and drive around for a bit.. I'm glad I did, as I got lucky enough to see a female American kestrel... She was hunting. Sitting in the tops of a few trees and soaring low on a windy day. It was a great opportunity for some photos..

This was cute.. Here's a series of photos of her trying to perch in a treetop while fighting the wind...

Right after she landed, the wind started to pick up...

And then it picked up some more (including her)... lol

At that point, she had enough and tried a lower branch...

And then, she must have thought it would be a good time to do some hang gliding...

The next series of photos is of her soaring pretty low, not far from me, looking for her next snack.. All of the next series she was pretty much in one spot, the wind holding her in place...

The next few are of her in a tree pretty far, although tall and a great vantage point for her..

Then she returned to the closer tree for a better look...

And this was the last I saw of her.. Just before she caught her final snack and flew off to eat.. I assume she's looking right at it in the photo..
