Summer Adventures..

I'm all about new experiences and seeing new places. I love new adventures. Living is what life is about. I honestly believe life is a journey. To learn, to wander, to explore. That's what makes life wonderful. That being said, I finally get to do just that, all because of the love of my wonderful husband. Some we do for fun, others because he has to travel for work. This was one of the latter for him. I have the privilege of going to explore. I had never been to Las Vegas, and I really wanted to see "The Strip" and Freemont Street. Being a nature girl, I gotta say, I wasn't thrilled. I'm good now, I don't need to ever go back for those places. Too many people for me.
I did very much enjoy a bird viewing sanctuary in Henderson, where we were staying. Then I found Red Rocks Canyon National Park. THAT I would go back for. I want to back for, in cooler weather. The average temp while we were there was 100 degrees. But it really was better than 80 and humid. The dry heat does make a difference, at least for me. On to photos... Warning, there are a lot of them. Enjoy!

I like to shoot photos from the plane. This is part of the Rockies..

I also love the clouds. I would love nothing more than to reach out and touch them. Weather amazes me, and being on the same level as the clouds is wonderful.

I'm not sure where this is, but I wouldn't mind living there...

Some of the hotels I didn't get to see. lol

Zip line over Freemont Street. That was kinds cool.

Early the next morning, our first day in Nevada, we went to the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve. If you ever fine yourself in the Vegas area, and love nature, this is a must.

I tried to get a photo of a quail a few times. They are quick and shy little guys.

A Black Crowned Night Heron. Beautiful bird.

There were hares everywhere! So cute!

I think this is the best hummingbird photo I've been able to take so far.

The next day, we tried to explore the Strip. In about nine hours, we only saw three casinos. Caesars Palace is beyond massive.

I believe this is at the Mirage. It's the check in desk of the hotel.

On to Caesars Palace...

There is a show "The Fall of Atlantis" with animatronic figures, at the end of the "mall". It's a looong walk...

Next, we checked out Bellagio.

The mermaid is made of flowers..

The turtle is also made of flowers..

And then, the place that blew me away, Red Rock National Conversation Area. For those of you from Indiana, think Turkey Run on steroids. In some photos, there are people. Very tiny people. We went one evening, and I went back the next morning. Something I learned while there. Red Rock is part of the Mojave desert. I was in the Mojave! I never thought I'd say that!

Here is a tiny people photo. Can you find them? Hint; look toward the bottom of the rocks.

Even in the harshest conditions, nature finds a way..

I finally made it to In and Out Burger! And I drug my husband along, lol. He was impressed with the service.

Last quail attempt. He was running around outside our hotel.

And a few photos from the trip home....

Lake Mead

I'm pretty sure the next four are of the Grand Canyon.

I love the landscape. The way you can see the water has cut through the land.

And my buddies Snoopy and Woodstock! They were at the Minneapolis airport..
