The Women's March Movement From Valparaiso, Indiana

On an exceptionally warm January day (the 21st) Women from Northwest Indiana joined others from all over the globe in the Women's March on Washington (or in our case, Valparaiso Indiana). It was a wonderful day, full of hope as we made our voices heard for equal rights, equal pay, climate change, insurance and medicare, the environment, freedom of choice, misogyny, racism, and education, among other things. The support was amazing as approximately five hundred people gathered around the courthouse to join the cause. It was wonderful to see so many people from different backgrounds come together. All ages, many ethnicities, women and men, boys and girls, coming together in a peaceful demonstration.

The organizers, my friend Charlotte, and her husband Keith, organized the event. When Charlotte heard about the marches occurring nation and worldwide, she wanted to have one accessible for people from Northwest Indiana that couldn't make it to Chicago or Indianapolis, which were the closest marches. She was expecting about two hundred people. But apparently, word spread from the Facebook event page, as there were so many more!
I'm not much of a writer, so I'll let my photos do the talking for me... Enjoy!

I also did a short video...
