Ok readers and viewers, I'll warn you now, this is going to be a long photo blog. I was having a really great photo night, and shooting one of my favorite subjects, The Steepwater Band, so it was hard to choose favorites for the blog. I also tried a star filter on my camera for the first time and was very pleased. Plus, about half of the photos here are my husbands as well (his are the latter half). Hint: if you click on a photo to view it large, there's arrows on the side and you can just scroll through them. That being said...
I hadn't been out for NYE in I don't know how long, for one reason or another. But this year, well, Steepwater was at The House of Blues, on the main stage no less!! Add Led Zeppelin 2 head lining the bill, well, 'nuff said (The event was sponsored by The Loop radio station). Plus, it was our first NYE as husband and wife, so we had reason to celebrate. But we know why you're here...so on to the photos!
** At the bottom of this blog are band and venue links, and a link to my husbands blog as well.
The crowd building and the colors glowing...
The balloons are ready and waiting....
It's never easy to capture photos of Joe, let alone a good one like this...
I always liked it when Tod & Joe feed off of each other...
You're not seeing double, this is the same as above, I like the dramatic effect of black & white.
Like I said, I was having a good photo night. More good photos of Joe!
Jeff was on FIRE! It's amazing how is hand is so fast that it sometimes is a blur...
And the crowd waits for Led Zeppelin 2..
The Steepwater "family" gathering by the merch to chat and spread New Year's cheer...
Back to Zeppelin 2, it's almost midnight..
Happy New Year!!!!
Our man Joe joins percussion with Zep 2 for the first song played in 2015!! Go Joe!!!
And now, my husbands photos. I added his copyright, but I obviously did it after NYE, and realized, after I finished, it should have been for 2014. Oops, lol. Hey, we're looking at them in 2015, right? He is more of a storyteller with his photography. I'm sure you'll notice a sequence in some of the photos and it give you a feel of the electricity and vibe between the band and audience.
Here's a sequence of Tod laying down the low end.
Love to see Eric get into it. It makes me happy to see them happy.
Very nice roll of Eric jamming!
Typically, I'd rather be behind a camera.. that's what I get for falling in love with and marrying another photographer... lol.
More photos of Led Zeppelin 2, this time from Wes.
The end of my first NYE in Chicago. We got a room right across from the venue, which was nice. As photographers, we were hoping for a better view, lol. But it was a great NYE with a wonderful husband. Thank you, Mr Bushby, for being the one to make some of these adventures possible, and for being the one to enjoy them with.
